Village Council Islampur (Pashto اسلام پور) is an administrative unit of Union Council Islampur in Tehsil Babuzai, of Swat District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
Islampur village council is the largest village council of UC Islampur and includes main village of Islampur with its extended hamlets Balawoo, Kathair, Sur Dup, Gujjar Tange. It also includes village Kohistan Ghat and mountainous settlements of Kaar Baakar, Salem Khan, Manzai and Tore Kamar in its territorial jurisdiction.
Geographical and demographic Information
Islampur Village is located at the distance of some 10 Kilometers to the South-East from Saidu Sharif (District Head quarter) and is considered to be the centre and main village of Marghazar valley. The village is surrounded by high mountains from all sides and typically built on slope land. It is bounded by Saidu Sharif city in North-West, Jambeel valley in the East, Sapal Bandai village in South and Chitor & Kokrai villages in the West. It is located between latitude 34°37΄-34°43΄N and longitude 72°19΄ -72°26΄ E (Sultan, 2006). The area is surrounded by mountains from all side with beautiful valleys and hamlets. There are approximately 2500 households with 20,000 populations residing in the area. The village is known for its handmade woolen products throughout Pakistan, Weaving, Agriculture, Government Jobs, Overseas jobs, Daily wages, Livestock rearing and milking are the major livelihood sources of the households. Pashtu is the main common language and medium of communication for all the population.
